Before You Cut Carbs for Summer, Read This

As we get closer to summer, the same advice starts making the rounds:

Cut carbs
Eat less
Push harder

It works… for a bit.

Then energy drops, training feels worse, and it becomes harder to sustain.

Here’s what’s actually happening

Most people we work with:

  • Train 2–5x per week

  • Eat β€œpretty well”

  • Are putting in real effort

But still feel like things aren’t fully clicking.

Not because they need more discipline.

πŸ‘‰ Because they don’t have a clear structure-or a way to stay consistent with the things that actually matter.

A few things that get overcomplicated

Energy balance still matters

  • Intake vs output needs to match your goal

Carbs aren’t the problem

  • They can support training and recovery big time!

  • Cutting them too low usually backfires for a lot of the folks we work with

Protein matters… but more isn’t always better

  • Around ~0.6–0.8g/lb covers most needs

  • Going far beyond that adds little and can crowd out other nutrients

  • There are always some exceptions of course, but your training and goals may impact and matter more

How you eat matters

  • Rushed or distracted eating can:

    • reduce satiety awareness

    • increase intake

    • affect digestion over time

What actually works

Not a new diet.

πŸ‘‰ A structured progression + consistent execution:

  • Build awareness

  • Improve food quality

  • Cover protein

  • Fuel training properly

  • Align intake with your goal

  • Adjust based on your response

Who this is really for

If you:

  • Train consistently (2–5x/week)

  • Are putting in real effort

  • But aren’t seeing the change you expect

…and want to:

  • lean out or get dialed in before summer

  • Genuinely FEEL better

  • stop guessing and follow a clear plan

  • understand what actually works for your body

  • and actually stay consistent long enough to see results

πŸ‘‰ this is for you.
