Why White-Knuckling Doesn’t Work
It’s one month in to a new year and if you started strong with a resolution you may be feeling some loss of steam or maybe a dip in inspiration. You may also be beating yourself up over a lack of immediate progress, or that what you set out to do may not be what you expected. We see far too many clients “white-knuckling” and FORCING things along thinking that all they need to do is push harder. That type of shaming or toughen-up mentality is far too pervasive in the health and fitness world, and while it may work anecdotally for some , it is seldom what does create real or lasting change for most people.
Instead use some of these more tried and true (and even research backed) methods for making things STICK FOR GOOD.

SUCCESS = MANY FOCUSED STEPS BREED NEW HABITS AND CHANGE
Huge wins are nice but focusing on and rewarding SMALL victories keeps you pushing forward. Learning to tie excitement to the process is what leads to the most success. This way even failures along the way can keep you moving forward because you are more invested in the learning and changing process rather than the results or goal that can be farther away. The consensus here is don’t take on monumental sized tasks or goals, but instead focus on very small ones and celebrate the forward progress with these routinely.

Waiting For the Perfect Time to Start? No Time Like the Present…
We hope you have been taking some time to enjoy the slower season with friends and family. There are still over 2 weeks (16 days) and over 4% of the year left. However, many of you have likely already mentally turned the page over to 2022… We can’t blame you! This can leave the remaining days of December seeming like somewhat of a wash, but there is still viable time to use in reflection and laying foundation for what is next.
